Nope
French naturalist Jean-Henri Fabre once conducted an experiment with processionary caterpillars, so called because of their genetic inclination to follow one another. He lined them up around the inner edge of a flowerpot and watched them march in a circle. Then he put pine needles, their favourite food, in the centre of the pot. The caterpillars continued to walk, following each other, without breaking rank, eventually rolling over and dying of starvation, just inches from their ideal food source.
Life can often feel a bit relentless, just like the endless trudging of the caterpillars.
Some days are just ‘Nope’.
Most of us have felt the treadmill of life power on, desperate to get off, not having a clue how to do it.
That sounds like a ‘Nope’ kind of a day to me.
Most people in this world have really good hearts full of really good intentions. We love those people nearest and dearest to us, we do what we can to make the world a better place – yet still the haters send their hate.
That is definitely a ‘Nope’ kind of a day
Working hard + unexpected car repair = delay booking the holiday
Nope, Nope, Nope!!!
It is normally ‘unfair’ that makes me want to take a ‘Nope’ day so now, if its a day that cannot be cancelled I schedule myself one in because I know I need to take those days when they are needed.
Maybe you can find a way to give yourself that gift as well.
Do what you need to do to pause.
Do you know what re-fuels you?
Maybe you walk, maybe you spa retreat, maybe you pray, maybe you meet friends, maybe you Netflix binge, maybe you read your book, maybe you go to the gym.
Whatever works, do it.
Don’t apologise, just do it.
This life is your life and you need to live it in the way that builds you, that fits you.
And if that means ‘Nope, Nope, Nope’, then embrace it.
Nope days are necessary and so needed. Don’t skim over them, don’t fear them - accept them for what they are and just love them.
