What Do I Like?

What is your favourite song of all time?

Or movie? Or meal?

It is not straight forward because often our moods determine the answer, or who we are with, or the time of day or month or year!

If you were asked what type of art you like would you be able to say?

If you are a creative it maybe something that you have spent time considering but, even so, it is often something determined by a tonne of external factors.

The thing for me is that in order to pin down the type of art I like to produce I need to find out the kind of art I like.

My typical way of doing this type of thing would be to do all my investigating, gather my thoughts and then let you know.

This time I will invite you in on the journey and maybe you will discover a little something new too…..

This much I know –

I am not a big fan of landscapes

I am less keen on still life, objects

I like characters, be they people or creatures

I am not a fan of the cartoon-ey look.

I love colour

I like movement

I like emotion

I do like characters alone, I do like them in scenes

I like lots of detail, bits and pieces to catch your eye, little stories with the main story

And that is probably all I know at the moment

I have been told that the way to discover what I like is to ask myself that very question by breaking it down into smaller, more manageable pieces, which are:

1. who are my top artists

2. what, in my opinion, are their top 9 pieces

3. Most importantly, why?

I really need to try and use my words to describe why I like those particular pieces.

I am starting with my instafeed and we will see where it takes me –

Here goes…..
