The Old Peoples Home For 4-year-olds
This is a typical example of how I impress myself with my ideas but then the execution of the idea produces a really disappointing result.
I really felt that the snowy, cross-generational concept was good.
I knew there could be fun and animation and real love in that image.
But the result back in the 2018 watercolour didn’t have the fun, animation or love. I just couldn’t depict what my mind saw.
I had another go at the start of 2020 and have been so impressed with the progress.
I pushed the pose of the little girl to inject some fun and movement into the image. There seems to be look of love passing between the Grandpa and the girl. And a bouncy little dog adds a touch of family play to the final piece.
There are some things that I missed such as colours in the snow - the purples and blues could have been more adventurous. And I feel as though the characters are sitting on the snow, almost as though they were plonked on the scene afterwards (there weren’t) so they need settling into the image a bit more.
Overall, for a second attempt, I am happy.
