Here’s our story…

It is a bit messy and a bit confusing but we like to share it because we are human and our messy parts are what makes us, us. This endeavour started years ago with my mum. She is an artist who wants to make artwork that speaks louder than words and that helps people when nothing else can. She is the creator of Rebel Pathways and, although she started creating cards and notepads and an array of other purchasable items, her heart wasn’t in it.

So, Rebel Pathways fell to the wayside as she concentrated on illustration. A few years after that, my business was born in 2020. I created a business that created gift boxes full of ethical products from small businesses around the UK. Shayani the Label was my sanity throughout the pandemic. However, after it, Shayani the Label changed to accommodate the new needs people had. I started creating sweatshirts and tote bags and for a while people enjoyed them, but eventually that stopped, too. Soon, we had two struggling small businesses in our family and enough stock in our house to fill a small room.

So, I started looking elsewhere, still posting on Shayani the Label’s social media but not really putting in the effort. Eventually in June 2023, I started writing a book and in August 2023, I sent a draft manuscript to a publisher and got accepted. Now, I am on a huge journey to get my very first book published at 18 years old. So, now that you know the back story, please stick around to see the main event.
